The Hillsborough disaster occurred on April 15, 1989 at the Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield during the FA Cup semi-final match between Liverpool FC and Nottingham Forest. With 97 deaths and 766 injuries, it is considered one of the greatest disasters in football history. The memorial plaque at Anfield stadium commemorates the many victims on that black day. After this tragedy, Liverpool FC's club crest was supplemented with two torches on the flanks and the words You'll never walk alone. This expanded coat of arms is still the club's official logo today.
