On October 1, 2017, 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, from a suite at Mandalay Bay, attacked attendees at a music festival on a site across from the hotel, killing 58 and injuring 869 others.
fun fact:
Because the number "4" is considered an unlucky number for Asian players, the floors above the 40th floor are numbered 61, 62 and 63. This is where the VIP suites are located.
