The Church of Santo Domingo was founded in 1544. Originally, it had a thatched roof. It was in use until August 19, 1845, when it collapsed. It was rebuilt in 1856. Adjoining the church was the building of the Holy Office, the Inquisition tribunal, which was destroyed during the War of Independence. Inside the church is the altar of Our Lady of the Rosary. It is adorned with an elaborate and precious crown of stamped gold and precious stones, decorated with two teardrop-shaped emeralds. Her necklace is also made of gold, and she holds a tortoiseshell staff with intricate filigree work and emeralds.
