The Catholic parish church of St. Jacob and St. Tiburtius is a former collegiate church and a minor basilica. As a civil church, it was built shortly after 1400 as a brick Gothic hall church. It is one of the most important and largest in Old Bavaria. The original ribbed vault was replaced by a barrel vault after the city fire of 1780. The church has a rich interior design from Gothic to modern. The changing altar with late Gothic shrine figures and altar panels was created around 1488/89 during Albrecht Dürer's apprenticeship in Michael Wolgemut's workshop. The magnificent Rococo pulpit by Mathias Obermayr and the Chapel of the Death of Mary with excellent furnishings by the Asam brothers are impressive. The stained glass windows are of national importance, primarily from the Wilhelminian era, but also with the oldest glass window in Lower Bavaria (1418), scenes based on designs by Hans Holbein the Elder. Ä. (end of the 15th century) and the Moses window designed by Albrecht Dürer.
