The towers of the Fortini della Fame (Hunger Fortresses) form a military line of defense. They were created in the mid-19th century and are located in the Magadino plain between Camorino, Sementina and Monte Carasso. The defense line was supposed to protect against attacks by the Habsburg monarchy.

The "Fortini della Fame" – Hunger Fortresses or Hunger Towers – are historical monuments closely linked to the turbulent history of the 19th century. These cylindrical structures are the remaining remnants of a fortification system consisting of 36 towers. Five towers still stand today above Camorino.

This is Tower No. 2, "Ai Munt."

The first tower "Ai Scarsitt" (from Scarsetti, the name of a patrician family extinguished at the beginning of the last century), suffered a first tampering in l938 with the removal of the steps in front of the door; for the rest until 1957 it was rented to private individuals and was the only one well preserved, but in that year with an intervention remained unknown for motives and instigators, the roof was removed and the door unhinged, which caused its decay. Thanks to the work of sensitization and the intervention of the canton, the fort has been able to resume the decorous aspect it had in the past: in 2003 the reconstruction of the roof according to the original plans allowed the following year to proceed to complete internal plastering and external, to the laying of a new mezzanine with the access ladder and the installation of the electrical system.
