The "Waesberg" district owes its name to the lordship of the Waesberghe family. It first appeared around 1200. At the top of the hill, where a bluestone orientation table with binoculars now stands, there once stood a corn windmill and a little lower a castle or fortified farm. In 1572 the farm was destroyed by fire. The windmill remained standing until it was dismantled and demolished between the two world wars.

In clear weather (I was not that lucky during my passage) you can see the Hoogbos-Livierenkam on the horizon, your view extends to Ronse, the Brabant hills, the Geraardbergse Oudenberg.
