The white poplar has been on the list of "nationally important trees" (NBB) since 2007, but was to be cut down three years earlier because it posed a threat to the general public: rotten branches caused the administration great concern. However, thanks to a citizens' initiative and a second report, the old poplar was saved. After all, this landmark has grown dear to many Bad Bollers. Marriage proposals have been made here and colorful festivals celebrated - or simply enjoyed the beautiful view of the valley and the Drei Kaiserberge.
