The idyllic Riesa Zoo is located at the foot of the historic monastery from the 12th century. The zoo, founded in 1965, is now home to around 270 animals in 65 selected species and breeds. From Elbe fish to rare rodents and various bird species to around 20 different species of mammals can be discovered here. In the east wing of the monastery there are three large aquariums and several terrariums for invertebrates and rodents.opening hours open from April 1st to September 30th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.,
in October and March 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.,
from November to the end of February 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
