The state forest Rheurdt / Littard is a closed deciduous forest area. It is characterized by pedunculate oak hornbeam forests and acid beech forests and has a very low proportion of softwood. The centerpiece of the nature reserve is the 25-hectare Littard natural forest cell. In this area, no management takes place, so that wild plants and animals can develop undisturbed.de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Staatsforst_Rheurdt/Littard

This forest area is almost completely surrounded by water. It lies like an oval, while the Littard pits run all around; also the Littardsche Kendel, the Schaephuysener Landwehr and the Nenneper Fleuth. A little further out are the Meenenkaule and the Hacksteinkaule.
