The Fruit Tree Museum on Altmengeder Straße near the Dortmund-Ems Canal is a project of the “German Forest Protection Association”. In the years from 2008, 49 selected fruit trees were planted here. The Fruit Tree Museum is intended to help protect old varieties, because only old fruit varieties were planted here. Display boards explain all sorts of things about the Westphalian varieties. Fruit picking is reserved for sponsors. However, the consumption of fruit that has already fallen seems to be permitted, or at least tolerated.
