"It's been a few days, since the beginning of the 19th century to be precise, when Cologne was so popular that it apparently had to be protected. At that time, the people of Cologne came up with the idea of protecting their city with a nearly 50km long ring of fortifications. One of these is Fort VI, or Fort Deckstein. In 1923, the rock garden was built on the former site and today it is definitely one of the absolute insider tips in Cologne, and not just because of its atypical nature.

The rock garden has something almost fairytale-like about it. The tall trees and rock formations mean that it is always relatively dark here, it almost seems enchanted. And so you certainly wouldn't be surprised if one or two mythical creatures came towards you from the forest."
