The Gastmarscher Siel drained the independent Langhauser Tief into the Norder Außentief until 1928. However, after the Leybuchtsiel was built in 1929, it became redundant and was finally demolished in 1968. In consultation with the city of Norden's monument protection authority, the sandstones were removed from the foundation and initially stored. On March 22, 2022, agreement was reached with the city administration on the new construction location. The stones were rebuilt less than 800 m north of the original location, on both sides of Altendeichsweg, immediately west of Langhauser Tief. The reconstruction was completed and officially inaugurated in May 2023.
