From the Killesberg mountain park you can reach the summit of the Killesberg via 35 steps, which is 383 m high. Up here is a residential area and really nothing else...

      Story

There is no confirmed origin of the Killesberg name. However, it is assumed that the term is derived from Külle (Celtic for mountain nose, hilltop).

Until the beginning of the 20th century, the Killesberg was an undeveloped hill where wine was grown. Since at least the 16th century, reed sandstone has been mined in several quarries. In 1904, the resulting area was initially used to store rubble and waste. In 1937, in preparation for the Reich Garden Show in 1939, the area was converted into a local recreation area and the Killesberg High Park was created. Previously, the Weissenhofsiedlung was built in 1927 and the Kochenhofsiedlung in 1933.

On May 28, 1940, the Stuttgart Trade Fair was founded on the Killesberg under the name Stuttgarter Exhibitions-GmbH. From 1941, the exhibition hall and hall of honor in the Höhenpark were used as a collection camp for Jewish fellow citizens. The first train left there on November 27, 1941.
