The Jacob Wrey Mold Fountain was originally installed in 1871 in City Hall Park in Lower Manhattan. The namesake was involved in the design and construction of Central Park (1853-57) and later became chief architect of the New York City Parks Department. In 1920, the fountain was dismantled and moved to Crotona Park in the Bronx. It was only in 1998 that it was decided to move the fountain to its original location, in the renovated 'City Hall Park'.
During its time in the Bronx, the fountain was neglected, damaged, and parts removed. The fountain was restored and the missing parts were replaced with reproductions and replicas based on the original drawings and photographs from the time.

A small park in front of City Hall. It's perfect for a short break. Especially since it's not far from the Brooklyn Bridge.
