The polyhedral sundial with the year 1740 and the artistically incorporated initials FW refers to its client: Friedrich Wilhelm (1700-1771), Margrave of Brandenburg-Schwedt. Which master commissioned the margrave with the production of this interesting and technically sophisticated art sundial, is unknown. Each surface of the sundial can be used to indicate a different time. Central European time is readable to the minute. The baroque sundial from the former palace garden was restored from 1988 to 1991 in the workshops of the Palaces and Gardens of Potsdam-Sanssouci.
