In 2002 Helmut Matthes from Müncheberg (Märkisch-Oderland) bought the old train station in Friedrichshain. The Müncheberger has become a Friedrichshainer and wants to stay that way. He was, so to speak, the local stationmaster. He pursues his hobby in the station building every day and simply has fun with it, as he explains. He has been collecting railway technology from GDR times for many years. This included warning crosses, switch lanterns, a message board with a control table from a signal box, telecommunications technology and also a master clock that controlled several clocks at the station. The three light signals and the red and white half-barrier system on the Friedrichshain platform cannot be overlooked. Helmut Matthes has already installed it. There are also many rarities in the rooms of the station building that the Müncheberger would like to build and process. Helmut Matthes is happy about further pieces of railway technology. They were supposed to have been used for his collection before the fall of communism. Anyone who has it available can contact him in Friedrichshain by phone on 035600 23626.

I still knew the time when the train still stopped there!

It's a pity that nothing is being done about it!
