The patron of the church, Adrian Wenzel Graf Enkevoirt, entrusted the well-known architect Joseph Emanuel Fischer von Erlach with the planning of the church.
The court and cathedral builder Johann Martinelli is in charge of construction management.
On June 29, 1740, the first mass was celebrated in the makeshift church.
It was not until 100 years later, between 1834 and 1838, that the church tower was completed according to the plans of Leopold Ernst.
