The Germanic Well is a well that served around 300 BC to provide the users of the comb fields near the Wekeromse Zand with water. Dr Frans Bursch, curator of the National Museum of Antiquities, has called the well Germanic well. However, Frans Bursch gradually emerged as a convinced Nazi propagandist during the Second World War. This may cast doubt on the correctness of naming this well as a Germanic well. The function of this Germanic Well goes way back to the past: about 300 years before Christ, the surrounding Celtic Fields could be supplied with water with this well. However, it is doubtful whether the well is actually Germanic; this name was given to the well by a man who later turned out to be a Nazi propagandist.
