Hiking

The fountain of virtue, which stands in the center of the forecourt of Bückeburg Castle, was created by Otto IV. It was built in 1552 and originally stood in the castle courtyard of Stadthagen. In 1921 it was transferred to Bückeburg and has been part of the castle courtyard's furnishings ever since. The fountain bowl is supported by 6 columns. The central column shows the cardinal virtues and the coats of arms of Otto IV and his first wife Maria of Pomerania-Stettin. The fountain column is crowned by the allegory of Justitia.
