Bad Bentheim had made us curious. That's why we're back in the area to get an overview on the bike. This time we had to use the mixed variant e-bike / bicycle, because my e-bike is not yet fit again after the fall. An unfortunate variant for both sides. The e-bike often has to wait while the cyclist is not allowed to take a break. And another innovation, for the first time we are wearing a helmet. This happened on the instructions of our daughters, who, after my second crash landing, wanted to avert greater damage to us. Now the stubborn old man has given in and it was just a little bad.
It was well chosen and led us through good paths to the highlights of the route. Even the weather, divided into two parts today, as shown in Figure 1, held out so that we had no rain to fear. Pictures while cycling are not possible with us. Therefore, only the start and finish are recorded photographically. We had run Nordhorn in the past and Bad Bentheim last Sunday. There were endless motifs on the route, but they have to wait to be discovered while hiking.

Yesterday and today there was once again an art market in Bad Bentheim. There is really still art here, not just handicrafts and that in small border traffic. That makes a really pleasant mood. We watched a lot. We also bought a ring for Alma's beautiful hands, then we were still in town for a pizza and a coffee and then we went back to the car. Well, we took a detour via the Bentheimer Mountains, adjacent forests and the spa center. We owed that to the pizza.
In winter we had already done this tour roughly. Had taken their food while standing in the forest and begged in vain for access to the toilets. But honestly, the quarries were just more important back then. Now the rock formations were just the background for the green of the trees. But now there were people on the streets and many places that invited us to linger. The hotel of the panda bears (see our visit in February) had reopened and that with the old pride as the best hotel on the square. It was back to normal. The locals complained loudly about the burden of tourism and rubbed the deserved bill in their pockets.
A great day for us with many views and insights.

We had the music live on Friday on the Emsterassen Rheine. This time Belgian blues at its best.
Visiting the weekly market in Münster is one of the things that is part of a fulfilled life. Our first visit was more than 30 years ago, i.e. at a time when we had not yet thought of living in the Teutoburg Forest. After a long abstinence, we wanted to know again today. Well, we chose the parking lot based on the following criteria:
      1. Free of charge
      2. Far enough from the goal that we would certainly renounce most seductions.
      3. Compliance with our step goal is not jeopardized.
      4. We can still buy and invite a desk at YELLOW.
Sounded like a good plan. And that's exactly how we did it. A realization frightened us a little. After the many weeks with rather manageable human contacts, we were more stressed than really happy in the Saturday city traffic. Before the festival season starts, we have to practice a lot.
In the end everything worked out. There are also a few pictures. Komoot swallowed others. The townspeople in pictures 1 and 2 were taken later in Telgte, where there was still a fantastic ice cream.

      A green leaf
      A leaf from summer days
I took it with me when hiking
so that one day it might tell me
      how loud the nightingale struck
how green the forest that I traversed.
The tour title resulted from the consequences of our second vaccination. Everything was fine on Saturday. Sunday started with the first small ailments. We started a bike ride anyway. The weather was good, just not the brakes on my bike. Despite previous inspection, it lost oil and at the crucial moment also lost its function. I initiated the necessary braking process with my chin and came to a stop in time. We have archived the tour exclusively for ourselves.

Monday saw us both suffering. Tuesday in miserable condition, but strong enough to at least plan today's tour. As a test to see what works.
And it worked, it went amazingly well. We started at home and made our way to Georgsmarienhütte. On the way we recorded details of the Teutoburg Forest. We are happy to share photos of it with you. For everyone who is currently on the move in the world, in Germany or anywhere else. The world, the sea, the universe may be beautiful… .but here… ..also, and we enjoy it.

At the weekend we got our hands on the little booklet “The 100 Castle Round”. Just for fun we looked what we already know from it. Result, only about 50% landed on the positive side. So on Monday we buckle up our bikes and set off to head for some of the open destinations. We leave the car in Ascheberg and cycle towards Westerwinkel Castle in the best possible weather. A gem, hidden in the middle of the forest, which is not shown even by signs. A little back and forth, then we found the driveway and stood in front of a moated castle that seemed to be borrowed from a fairy tale. As one of the first moated castles in the Münsterland, it has an important history under its belt. It can be committed and, according to the information posted, it can also be done in groups. And that should be interesting, because inside a lot of things should have been maintained for centuries but not changed. Little is known about how it is used today, even if the cars in the castle courtyard bear witness to life within the old walls. The neighboring golf club, on the other hand, is easy to find on the Internet. Even if the separation was a lot difficult, we had to continue because there were still more stations waiting to be viewed. Over forests and fields we went to Versailles, the Westphalian of course. So correctly named, Nordkirchen Castle. The splendor of this complex does justice to the French model. It quickly became clear to us that our decision to travel on Monday was the right one. The houses were all closed and we had a chance to continue cycling. Of course, only after we stopped at a bakery in the associated town. The next destination is Vischering Castle in Lüdinghausen. Nice paths led there, too, mostly past fields or along the Stever. At some point, however, the castle appeared behind thick branches and I was back in the dreams of my childhood, with wild knights and their splendid courtiers. This is exactly what the castles I dreamed of looked like. Back when I didn't know how dark and cold it was there, especially in the winter months. Today the castle is cleared and steals in all its glory. Now there were still 20 km to go before we could start our journey home. Of course clouds came up, of course it started to rain, of course we arrived at the car in the rain cape and of course happy again about the things we were allowed to experience.

Cycling in Münster has something. There are good cycle paths, now more and more cycle streets and there is a lot of green, so that it is sometimes difficult to relate to a big city. But that was not the reason for our bike tour. This fact was only due to our somewhat more extensive course across the city to the Werseradweg. We have already walked and ridden this route several times in individual segments, but we always started the way back with the firm intention that next time we will see how it goes on. And the next time was today. Because of the extensive approach through Münster, the gain was considerable but not complete. So there has to be another time. Somehow we have to conquer the 67km long river. Well, there must always be something worth living for. Our next destination Beckum where the Werse arises from the confluence of three brooks. Perhaps the real explanation why we only cycled halfway through Münster before we hit the Werse. We wanted to go down the river just to have less pedaling. It's not that important on an e-bike, but we haven't always been on the road with a battery ... and back then that (I don't think so) made sense. So the Werse is not ticked off yet. We report when there is something new.

Once again found a piece of gold. The way through the Meller Mountains was a real pleasure due to the multitude of towers and just wonderful area. Yes, enjoyment, two places to stop for refreshments on the way and both of the finest ... even if we only dared to go to the bottom of the menu, that means pure fries. Small problem only the signs. We had chosen the 3-Türme-Weg at the hiking car park in Melle and, thanks to Komoot, got through quite well. The trail marking was relatively new, but unfortunately not attached by hikers. Most of the license plates were on the way, where you can't turn off anyway. Branches were basically not labeled with the exception of three places. Bad for the hiker who doesn't have a GPS.
According to the NOZ, the Meller Wildlife Park is to be freed from the fencing with immediate effect ... then you can easily drive to Dietrichsburg by car. We enjoyed the quiet in the forest park again. Enjoyment again. Tomorrow we will be able to enjoy the first mushroom pan of this year.
The end of the tour is shortened and in rain gear, like on Sunday.

After work, the day's work was done. The last rain clouds were still hanging over the garden, but they were obviously heading NE. So heading EAST ... Linen - Lengerich. Komoot on, bikes at the start and off you go. We don't actually publish such "short trips" because we hardly ever take photos while cycling, but we wanted to share the testimonies of the soccer game we experienced. At first glance it looked normal. There were amateur footballers who kicked the leather a little after work. But then, attack on all fronts. As a rule, in this case, the defenders kick the ball and try to prevent the shot on goal ..... not here ... the friendly colleagues worked in the penalty area and then disappeared with the goal. I write this during the England - Denmark game, which we follow acoustically on the terrace (Toooorrr goal for Denmark, yeeeeehhh goal for England). Perhaps what we saw in Lienen would be a tactic to have Germany at the forefront once again.

The motto of the day in music:bing.com/videos/search?q=max+raabe+fahrrad+youtube&view=detail&mid=93EAF38AC9C9CD2FAC8C93EAF38AC9C9CD2FAC8C&FORM=VIREStarted in a light drizzle, enjoyed life in the sunshine and the return journey in a downpour. There was really nothing dry about the car. But we are very satisfied. Once again on the bike.
We started to look around, as every year, on the open garden day in the Malgarten monastery. It's a wonderful place with lots of greenery and lots of art. Further a little through the rural area with magnificent courtyards and lush pastures towards Alfsee and Alfhausen. There was something for the stomach there. From here we wanted to cycle slowly back to Bramsche via the villages. But already at the start at the rest house "Zum alten Pauker" we noticed the drawn sky without really taking this fact seriously. We also took the chosen route instead of heading straight for the destination. After 5 minutes it was dripping a little, a minute further we decided to take shelter under a tree. This worked for a few moments, but the sky had opened all locks and the leaves gave in to the will of the rain and kiss passed. Since the protection had failed, we tried it with speed. At first we lifted our legs when we passed puddles, but soon stopped because we couldn't get any more wet. That sounds a bit dramatic. but it wasn't. There were many others who, surprised by the floods, cycled in all directions. The encounters were always accompanied by cheerful calls and comments. Of course it had stopped shortly after the entrance sign. The city greeted us at its best. Actually, we wanted more, because we had missed a lot of things worth seeing on our hunt. But a look at the sky showed us that this city will not get away scot-free either. And this time we accepted the warning. Right, because the settlements collapsed as soon as they approached the autobahn.

On the way back from Nuremberg we briefly invaded Bad Kissingen again to cool our feet at the water treading area. We have taken the same path many times before and just added it again.
