The medieval town hall from 1418 was destroyed by fire in 1911, together with the neighboring residential buildings. The current new building was designed by the architect Alfred Sasse (Hanover). It is a brick building in the style of homeland security architecture with a polygonal corner tower. Inside, remains of the old furnishings from the 16th century from the previous building were added.
