The history of the parish church of St. Johannes Baptist zu Beverungen dates back to the 9th century. Today's third building at this location was begun after the Thirty Years' War in 1682 under Prince-Bishop Ferdinand II of Paderborn (portal inscription) and has remained essentially unchanged.
One of the important works of art in the interior is the high altar, donated in 1690 by the Paderborn Prince-Bishop Hermann Werner von Wolff-Metternich, with the main painting "The Holy Family and the Child John" by Johann Georg Rudolphi.
In 2013, the parish rights of all other Catholic churches in the city of Beverungen were revoked and this church is now the parish church of the Holy Trinity parish, which covers the entire city of Beverungen.
The entrance area is open during the day.
