Einheit Monument at the Former Inner-German Border

The new monument consists of the seven letters of the word UNITY and stands at the former Thuringia-Bavaria border crossing, directly on Kolonnenweg. The steel letters were made by the MCR company in Römhild and placed in a slight circle. The surrounding area is currently being completed and will be officially inaugurated on October 3, 2023. This will enhance the square here on the former border and will certainly attract many interested parties. With the existing information boards right next to it, the new monument creates an appealing overall picture. 34 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, a worthy place of remembrance has been created.

Where unity is lived
Hellingen:
The monumental individual parts - each over two meters high and weighing around 150 kilograms - now adorn a stretch of land near Hellingen in the Hildburghausen district, right on the former German-German border. A road leads from Thuringia to Bavaria here and here the Day of Unity is celebrated and lived by the people every year, says Heldburg's mayor Christopher Other. This new monument is located at the southernmost point of Thuringia, right on the border with Bavaria. Each of the letters is about 230 cm high and weighs about 150 kg. Before the work of art was installed here, it was part of the exhibition "Everyday Unity. Portrait of a Transitional Society". Produced in Dresden by the artist Hüseyin Arda, the work represents the way of life and cohesion of the region. Source:
