Anyone who wasn't put off by the wild Höllental was able to enjoy the best water a long time ago: in 1692, a chronicle reported on two springs that Dr. Fritz Wiede opened it up in 1903 with a 262 m deep borehole. The springs were used until 1907 to produce carbonic acid, which was sold to German breweries. The bottling and distribution of mineral water began.
