    Pilgrimage site so-called Bergenkruis, located on the south side of Kwadenplasstraat.

    Bergenkruis is a household name for Destelbergen residents. This ancient place of pilgrimage is known far beyond the municipal boundaries. The pilgrimage site and its spacious surroundings have been a protected village sight since January 23, 1981. All year round, passers-by stop on the wooden benches to pray or reflect in the silence of nature. The crucifix is worshiped and venerated to heal the sick, both human and animal.

    Once a year, on the Ascension of Our Lord, the gates are wide open and hundreds of believers go on pilgrimage and attend the Eucharist celebrations in the open air. As usual, the pilgrimage is accompanied by a pleasant fair atmosphere.
