Hiking
The church dates from 1920-1923. The previous church (from 1740) was completely destroyed during the First World War.
In 1566, an even earlier church had also suffered heavy damage during the Beeldenstorm.
A statue of Mary, which was important for the pilgrimage site that Westrozebeke was at that time, was destroyed.
That statue was replaced in 1588 by a new statue, which is still (or better: again, because during the First World War it was temporarily brought to safety in Roeselare) in the church.
I couldn't go and see it. The church is currently closed due to renovation works.
