The royal postmaster Fischer lived here until 1845. The city's Royal Prussian post office was located in the building from 1824 to 1847. The post office was housed on the ground floor of the house, while the upper floors served as apartments for the postal workers.

Around 1820 the visible framework was completely plastered and smooth. The stables for the horses were located in the courtyard area of the property.

In 1871 Eduard Langrock founded a carpentry shop in Nordhausen, and in 1897 he bought the property at Pfaffengasse No. 2.

In 1950, Philipp Schwinn took over the Langrock company and continued to run it as a furniture carpentry business. The company was nationalized in 1973 and returned to the Schwinn family in 1990.
