The tower house dates from 1619. It is a somewhat strange sight in this beguinage, but it is suspected that it was the former home of the grand mistress. The natural stone facade shows the coat of arms of the suspected donors, the van Alsteren family.

So-called "Torenhuis", possibly formerly the residence of the grand mistress. Deep house with two bays and two storeys under a saddle roof (Flemish tiles), flanked on the left by an octagonal staircase turret with a constricted spire (slate) and a long entrance wing of one storey under a saddle roof (ridge parallel to the street, Flemish tiles); dated 1619 by means of wall anchors. Painted, brick building on a pecked plinth. Forged iron wall anchors. Gable stone with coat of arms of the van Alsteren family, initials A T and year ..19. The pointed gables of the house are finished with eaves and braiding. Rectangular brick windows with recent limestone (?) cross; double relieving arches of a roll layer and a flat layer; two wooden attic hatches in the gable top. The staircase turret has small, wooden frames. In the entrance wing, anchored round arch door in a painted, natural stone frame with negative blocks and quarter-hollow profile. Rectangular, wooden windows in the rear facades; relief system as in the front facade.Source: inventaris.onroerenderfgoed.be/erfgoedobjecten/23026
