In the 16th century, the Speelhof along the beguinage was set up as a 'playhouse' for the abbey. You can walk there, there is a beautiful rose garden and beautifully maintained, furnished allotments. The cycle route network passes by and from the terrace of brasserie 'De Afspanning' you can keep an eye on the little ones in the playground. You can enjoy walking and cycling on the walking path surrounded by trees. Children can also visit the animal park. You will also come across some art projects on the domain.

A castle domain that was designed as a country retreat by the abbots of Sint-Truiden in 1562, is today a unique base for walkers, joggers, playing children, youth and sports clubs.

't Speelhof is located on the edge of the city center, next to the World Heritage-listed Beguinage. It is a green lung, unique because of its location and versatility. In 2006, a controlled flood zone was created on the site.

The Speelhof is a building with a surrounding domain, located at Speelhoflaan 5 in the Sint-Truiden district of Schurhoven.
The Speelhof was built as a country residence for the abbots of Sint-Truiden Abbey. It was founded in 1585 by Abbot Christopher de Blocquerie. It remained the property of the abbey until 1796.
The property consists of a mansion with stables and a transverse barn, set around a rectangular cobbled courtyard, in the center of which is a small fountain. There is also a gatehouse with dovecote from the 2nd half of the 18th century. The outbuildings, to the left and right of the mansion, date from the 2nd half of the 18th century. The mansion, with an orangery behind it, dates from the first half of the 19th century. The whole is whitewashed.
The buildings are located on an estate, which is walled and moated. It includes a park, in which there are also some lanes and some old trees, an orchard and a vegetable garden.
