Not far from here, about 500 meters to the northwest, between the Kamp Forest (Hohe Busch), Niederkamp Forest and an extension of the Baerlag and the Saalhoffer Ley, according to Matthias Dicks, the nucleus of the Kamp Monastery is believed to be. The first Cistercian monastery on German soil was founded here in 1123.
