The patronage of the church "Peter in Chains" goes back to the oldest church in Rome. The church was built in 1484/85. The tower dates from 1705. Before that, a wooden chapel had already stood on this spot. Old folk tradition reports that the Heeder church was founded by St. Bishop Liudger, who evangelized the Frisians and Saxons at the end of the 8th century.
