The first mention of a parish dates from 1222, and the right of patronage was held by the Abbey of Mont-Saint-Éloi. Remnants of a then existing Romanesque church, built in iron sandstone, are still present in the central west wall of the current church. Subsequently, a late Gothic hall church was built in the first quarter of the 16th century. In 1583 there was a fire, after which the church was rebuilt. In 1609 this was completed on the nave, the transept and the crossing tower. A stair turret was added in 1855.
