"Szajna was an extraordinary artist. It is impossible to ignore his works. Józef Szajna's work, both theatrical, painting and sculptural, was marked by war and camp experience. He was a prisoner of Auschwitz, where he was sent to the death block twice, and the Buchenwald camp. One One of the recurring motifs in his work was the ladder. It appeared, among others, in the performances "Majakowski" and "Dante". In the sculptural composition standing in Otwock Wielki, the ladder is several meters high, and huge, worn-out shoes "walk" on its rungs. "
