Unfortunately, the road from Miramare (southern outskirts of Livorno) to Rosignano Solvay is squeezed between the cliff and a steep slope upstream and has no room for a cycle path. Therefore, for the cyclist who wishes to go south and is not interested in traveling along a beautiful but busy coast , it is advisable (at the traffic light immediately after the Livorno hospital area) to detour towards the hilltop villages of Gabbro, Castelnuovo della Misericordia, Rosignano Marittimo and finally descend to the plains at Rosignano Solvay. There are continuous ups and downs (always below 300 m), but the road is shaded and with little traffic

The Via Aurelia, or S.S.1 (state road # 1) is one of the main traffic arteries in Italy. Like all the consular roads of ancient Rome, it departed from the capital and gradually reached the places of Tuscany and Liguria, up to Arles, in France. Since the route is largely along the sea, it offers numerous panoramic views, especially from the top of its hillside.

The Aurelia road or Romito for the locals is really a beautiful road but it is very busy.
