Located very close to the new Kinzigbrücke, this beautiful, shady place invites you to take a break. Also suitable for children - there is a playground in the immediate vicinity.

Not only were the Romans here once, but unfortunately modern-day vandals have also been here recently 😖 Numerous information boards have been defaced... in some cases the texts are no longer legible!

The Roman fort on the Kinzig in Rückingen was built between 110 and 125 AD, when the Limes already existed. The fortifications protected the lower course of the Kinzig and the border line including a transition. The Kinzig had a certain importance as a traffic route in Roman times, because it was navigable for smaller, flat transport barges. The castle therefore certainly had a landing stage. To the east of the complex was a wooden bridge over the Kinzig, the stumps of which were discovered at the end of the 19th century.
