The Olen forests are predominantly coniferous. A large portion is owned by Brabant Water, which operates a water extraction area there. Scattered parcels are owned by Staatsbosbeheer (State Forestry Service). To the west lies the new Mosbulten nature reserve, consisting of fens, marshland, and deciduous trees. A 6.7 km signposted walking trail connects the various areas.
