The church in Zscherben is originally a Romanesque choir tower church and was built around 1250. In 1693 the building was structurally modified. The wider, rectangular nave with its basket-shaped and plastered barrel vault was completely renovated around 1730. The wooden pulpit altar and the carved baptismal font with lectern top also date from this period. The organ case dates from the 18th century. Since 1970 the church has hardly been used for services. In the 1990s, the building was re-roofed and thus saved from decay.
