This cross commemorates L. Christiane, who was struck by lightning on July 15, 1839, after mowing hay on his property in the Walloon moor. The inhabitants of Champagne had the right to harvest hay in this moorland area.

This blue stone cross stands at the edge of the old "Voye des Bwès" at a place called "La Béole." It commemorates Léonard Christiane from Champagne, who was struck by lightning on July 15, 1839, as he returned home from mowing hay in the Walloon marshes, scythe over his shoulder.

Shortly before 1940, the cross was rediscovered by Paul Demez; it lay overgrown with moss in a roadside ditch.
