The Nippenburg was probably built for military purposes in the 12th century by a local noble family. It is considered the oldest castle ruin in the Stuttgart area.

A really great tour👍 thumbs up. However, a very good step required, some stretches to the left below the ruins are partly very overgrown and steep (slippery) Caution!
at the end of the trail you come to a golf course. The last few kilometers across the field are also very nice. 😍A nice route all in all

The Nippenburg is the ruin of a spur castle and a farm southwest of Schwieberdingen (295 m). It was first documented in 1160 and is considered the oldest in the Stuttgart region. In the 17th century, the strategically located on a mountain spur above the Glemstals castle was abandoned and built in the immediate vicinity of the manor house castle Nippenburg. In the following centuries, the castle was used as a quarry and abandoned to decay. The remains of the castle ruins with high shield wall and Vorburgteilen and a massive scouring from the year 1483 were consolidated in the early 1980s.

Surprising castle ruins over the Glemstal. Also good to reach along the golf course. Whether there is a rest stop there I could not find out.

Castle ruins are ideal for children to hide rabbits at Easter.
In autumn very nice foliage colors in the whole area.
For the sporty, there is also a golf course

It was first mentioned in a document in 1160 and is considered the oldest in the Stuttgart region. In the 17th century, the castle, which was strategically located on a mountain spur above the Glemstal, was abandoned and the manor of Nippenburg Castle was built in the immediate vicinity. Very nice footpath to the castle. The castle ruins themselves are a worthwhile destination due to their location and complex as well as many open spaces.
