The Staaken airfield in Berlin-Staaken on Brunsbütteler Damm developed over the course of its 40-year history (1915–1953) from a shipyard for the Zeppelin Works in the 1920s to one of the first commercial airports in Germany and finally to the main shipyard of Deutsche Lufthansa AG. Judging by the large number of factory and ferry flights from the mid-1930s onwards, Staaken airfield was a major airport by the standards of the time
