In the past, much earlier, this area with its restaurant and large parking areas as well as excellent access to the lake and several large jetties was known as the Neue Moorhütte and was often very busy with sailors and tourists. Today the building itself is owned by the Hannover Academic Sailing Club - and it is a rather deserted and somewhat outdated place by the sea. The view of Steinhude and towards Totes Moor is, however, still just as good and wide as it used to be.
