The baroque Haindorf Castle developed from the field mill, which was first mentioned in 1624. But the roots probably go back even further, to the Loisbachmühle, which was first mentioned two hundred years earlier in 1407. It belonged to the estate owned by Peter Haun zu Haindorf (Wißgrill, 1800).

In 1582, the court chamber president Reichard Streun von Schwarzenau was the owner of Haindorf. In the following decades the owners changed frequently. The Counts von Grundmann owned it from 1680 to 1876. Baron Leopold Popper von Podhragy then acquired it. It fell into severe decline under Baron Sales. It was restored again under the heraldist Friedrich Graf Lanjus von Wellenburg. During the occupation, it was devastated by the Soviet occupying soldiers, so that the count's widow, the local poet Theres Lanjus, had to move out in 1945. The Sachseneder company later set up company apartments in the castle.

In 1973, the state of Lower Austria bought the castle and completely renovated it until 1978. The state construction guild uses the castle as a training center. There is also a three-star seminar hotel attached to the building academy. Behind the castle is a large castle park that extends to the Kamp (Wikipedia).

Hotel Schloss Haindorf is located just outside the wine and garden town of Langenlois, embedded in one of the most beautiful regions in Austria - in the Kamptal near the Wachau. The hotel in Langenlois was first mentioned in a document in 1387 and was subsequently often the residence of aristocrats and landowners. In 1973 the state guild of Lower Austria construction acquired the castle in a dilapidated condition, renovated it and operates it as a conference and recreation hotel. In 2003, the BAUAkademie Lower Austria expanded it to include modern conference and seminar rooms and create an attractive architectural contrast to the baroque castle. Everything is embedded in the large castle park with old trees and walking paths.

Beautifully restored castle, now a hotel with a restaurant.
