In Creuzburg you reach the Werra Valley, which is surrounded by striking hills. The small town, which is one of the oldest in Thuringia, is located about two kilometers from the former inner-German border. So it was directly in the five kilometer wide restricted area.
Creuzburg has a lot of sights, such as the Creuzburg Castle, which gives it its name, the old Werra Bridge, the Nicolai Church or the old city wall. When it comes to accommodation, the small town also has a wide range of options, from campsites to hotels.
