In the town of Sluis you should make a walk through the partially well-preserved fortifications. The town hall (built in 1390) is the only one in the Netherlands with a belfry. Sluis has a special position as a shopping center: Shops are open seven days a week. Since Sluis was formerly considered a border town, typical duty-paid goods such as alcohol, cigarettes and cosmetics are still sold tax-free today. Result: A mass of tourists animates the town.
