The trunk of the natural monument Oskar-Böhm-Oak is so thick that it takes four people to shake hands to grasp the trunk.

The "Oskar-Böhm-Oak" is probably the best-known Kandel forest tree. It is right next to the popular path that leads to the Naturfreundehaus Bienwald, just a few meters from this house. According to the experts from the forestry office, the stately oak is between 250 and 300 years old, has a diameter of around five meters and is around 35 meters high. For a long time, this natural monument was considered Kandel's strongest tree. In the meantime, however, it is only number two, as there is an oak tree in a wooded area to the right of the Oberkandel dike, also near the Friends of Nature House, which is even thicker and taller than the one named after the former SPD mayor. Since a Bienwald oak can be between 350 and 400 years old, unless something unforeseen happens, visitors to the Bienwald can enjoy the proud "Oskar Böhm oak" for a long time to come.

Is only surpassed by the Bismarck oak, also in the Bienwald.
