The former forester's house for the management of the Duderstadt forest was built in 1711. Over time, forestry use declined and it became a public house. The forester's house developed into a popular place for excursions. With the expansion of the border, the last residents had to leave the forester's house in 1961. It was demolished. Today only a few remnants of the foundation and the hornbeam avenue are reminiscent of the house.

Already in 1521 a blockhouse was built on the Lindenberg. It served as a tool shed and temporary accommodation for the wood rangers and kink wardens. This was the forerunner for the forester's house built in 1711.
