The Gudow estate has been owned by the von Bülow family since 1470. The estate is now run as an agricultural and forestry business by the 15th generation. Detlev Werner von Bülow is the owner of the business and is actively supported by the estate manager Lübbert Möllmann as well as two employees and an apprentice.

There has been no livestock farming on the estate since the 1970s. Today the focus is on the cultivation of rapeseed, wheat, rye, oats, sugar beets and corn. Around 800 to 1,000 tonnes of wheat are grown annually on an area of around 300 hectares. From the selection of seeds to the care of the plants and daily quality controls through to the harvest - the high quality of the grain is always in the foreground. In this way, we continuously work towards meeting the standards for delivery to Gloria.

Gloria has a very special meaning for Detlev Werner von Bülow: “Gudow still had its own mill until the 1960s. Since then, Gloria has been the mill here in the north. Gloria simply belongs in the region and is well known here.” The regionality of the grain is particularly important to the estate. “It makes us proud when we see the Gloria flour on the shelves at the end and know that we have done our part,” says Lübbert Möllmann (42), manager of the Gudow company.

The northern German location of the arable land has many advantages: “The temperate maritime climate with comparatively few fluctuations favors the harvest of relatively large quantities of good quality.”

Today's estate represents a state-of-the-art, efficient operation. At the same time, it presents itself as a rural, feel-good idyll: there is a familiar atmosphere on the farm and the employees have a close relationship with each other. Here, people share the joy of natural processes and often enjoy sitting together in the evenings and enjoying living and working together in the midst of peaceful, beautiful nature.
