Tips

  • The "Königsmoor", which is mostly referred to as "Hasenmoor" outside the village and in external publications, received the status of a so-called FFH area in 2007. Recognized as a "fauna-flora-habitat" and as a designated nature reserve within the "NATURA 2000" network, this diverse moor complex with its regeneration potential - in the sense of a common meaning - is particularly worthy of protection. "The 275 hectare Hasenmoor FFH area is the remnant of a formerly over 600 hectare raised bog. Peat extraction divided the area into two different sections. The northeast was industrially mined from 1921 to the 1970s. The smaller part is in the southwest characterized by rural hand peat stitch. Thanks to the extensive restoration measures, the rabbit bog is now a species-rich habitat. Peat mosses begin to grow again in areas where nutrient-poor water could be stowed. Cotton grass and white Schnabelried are spreading here again. The moor heaths in the northeastern part, which are characterized by bell and broom heath, are characterized by high proportions of peat mosses typical of high moorland as well as rosemary heath and cranberry.Individual parts of the bog are pounded down to the mineral subsoil or are so deep that nutrient-rich water flows in from the surroundings. These areas develop into peat bogs, in which rare plants such as water hoses and navel spread. The rare crested fern grows in the swamp forests in the southwest.A wide variety of animal species live in the rabbit bog. For many rare and endangered species, the rabbit bog is an important retreat in an increasingly used environment. Particularly noteworthy are the occurrences of the smooth snake ... which, like the adder, feels good on the dry peat dams.hasenmoor.de/seite/296674/das-k%C3%B6nigsmoor.html
