This forest path leads you through the coniferous forests towards the sand drifts of the Loonse and Drunense Dunes. The forest you walk through didn't just appear out of nowhere. In the past, the conifers were planted to capture the drifting sand. Nowadays, ecologists are actually very pleased with the sand drifts, as they are home to many rare plant and animal species.
