The Asbeek originates from spring water in the Asbroek, slightly east of the Zutendaal hamlet of Bessemer on the Kempens Plateau. The Asbeek is a defining feature of the Pietersembos in the Hoge Kempen National Park, as the stream irrigates the forest over a distance of approximately 5,500 metres. The source area consists of a number of springs, situated in a moist meadow area at an altitude of 70 to 80 metres above sea level.
